A Descendant Of Martin Luther Will Visit Mt. Horeb in Chapin Nov. 4

Mt. Horeb Lutheran Church will host a decendant of Martin Luther on Tuesday, Nov. 4, at 6 p.m.

Christian Priesmeier is a documented 13th generation grandson of Martin Luther through Luther’s son, Paul. He has always lived in Germany, and now resides in Hamlin with is wife, Claudia.

He is an active member of Lutheriden, the officially recognized family of Martin Luther, and has served as Secretary of the organization founded in 1926. He is fluent in English as a second language, and is an international information technology consultant in the food industry.

Beginning this fall, he will begin classes in a German University seeking a degree in Cultural Theology.

He has been a lay pastor for many years. He also is involved once per month in a German monastery. Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary in Columbia has invited him to be present at the unveiling of a Luther Statue on the Seminary Campus on Reformation Day, Oct. 31. 2014.

The Priesmeiers will be housed at LTSS and will return to Germany on Nov. 12.
